Ai in Your Neighborhood?

By the way, "Ai" is pronounced just like "eye" in English. The name comes from the Hebrew name "ha-`Ay" which means "the ruin". That name was apparently given to the city after Joshua's army made it a ruin. We don't know what it was called before that.

Ai is probably not in your neighborhood unless you live near Deir Diwan in Israel. On the map I've drawn a line between my town and the ruins of Ai. Although Ai is probably far from where you live, its ruins still exist as a mound named et-Tell. Ai is in a familiar neighborhood to the man who gave me the picture below.
